The only acceptable discrimination still alive and well in this fucked up country.
To term another human being struggling with what could be and probably is a disease is unacceptable.
Walk by any other human being and make snap judgement calls based in this type of discriminatory language is almost unheard of. E.G. call someone a Paki, a Lesbo, a Poof, a Mongo, a multitude of other discriminatory/derogatory comments and the law will side with those oppressed.
Walk by a "Junkie/Alky" using the same terms and people will nod and say "Aye"
This attitude perpetuates myths and keeps the person locked in societal boxes and fuels more discrimination.
Imagine the headline was "Where can I go in Glasgow to avoid (insert chosen term as highlighted above)
You'd all be up in arms. |
