| Comment | Most of those other groups you noted are protected classes, whether by race, sex etc.
Junkie and Alki are colloquial terms for addicts, which are not a protected class and, at one point or another, have made decisions which have led to them being in the position they are in.
I've had both in my family, know people who attended NA or AA and both sets of people still use those words in my experience. |
