I'm a recovering addict with over 21 years clean, the words are NOT acceptable.
This justification is like you saying it's ok for you to use the word N*##*r just because a black person may call themselves that.
I'm saying that the throwaway attempts at justification are immoral and in the same context as derogatory words used to describe a person, mainly used by ignorant people, should be protected to.
Trouble is, no one stands up and wants to be associated.
Call it out, it's unacceptable, don't try and justify it, see the person, see the potential, see the illness, see the despair, see the cry for help.
Challenge the discrimination don't justify it.
Also to the wanker/wankess who sent a note to caring Reddit, go fuck yourself. |
