That's not how it works, once you find out you have a choice, prior to knowing I had a choice I would think exactly like this, but maybe with a tinge of "Oh fuck it, I've used now, I'm useless, hopeless, a fuck up, I can't do anything right" then the shame and guilt would kick in and the perpetual cycle kicks in.
