The key things that put me off, in order, were getting stuck in queues of traffic breathing exhaust fumes at close range (I'm not confident to pass on either side of a queue to get to advance stop boxes which cars often sit in anyway), feeling unsafe/aware of holding up traffic, having to carry and use a heavy bike lock every time I hopped off my bike, weather, having to dress appropriately. Lots of those are fixable by having decent segregated cycle lanes. |
