I have degrees from Strathclyde and Glasgow.

Overall, Strathclyde had a bit more of a down to earth feel about it if that makes sense. People stereotype Glasgow as the posher uni but I'd it deserves that reputation.

Glasgow's library has longer opening hours, so if you're a nighthawk like me you might prefer that, but the library is always mobbed (especially at exam time) which means you need to get there early if you want a decent perch. I also think that despite being a very tall building, the Strathclyde Library is slightly bigger and it's a great facility in my opinion. Can get a decent seat at any time of day. However Glasgow are currently constructing a new 'learning hub' which should increase study spaces by around 5,000.

With regards to your course choices, Glasgow tends to have a better reputation in the social science/arts field, however it will be tricky (not impossible though!) to get a job related to your area of study.

Glasgow also has more of a traditional feel to it. It felt more like what I expected university to be like and generally has a bit more of a student community feeling to it.

Both are modernising their campuses but as a social science student I have no idea how much benefit that will bring you in terms of new facilities etc. Strathclyde's is probably slightly easier to get to, particularly if you are commuting from outside the city.

Both Unis are held in pretty high regard, but if you have any more questions feel free to fire away buddy.
