If you have an iPhone (and I’m sure there’s similar for Android) you may have [Find My](https://www.apple.com/icloud/find-my/) turned on. This is sensible to set up on any future device if you didn’t do it this time.
You can sign into your Apple ID online and track your iPhone, remotely wipe the device, lock the device, play a sound, mark it lost etc.
