I recall someone on here quite recently saying a private diagnosis doesn't open any NHS doors in terms of treatment.

It does take years on the NHS (we're about mid way through with my daughter). You have to hound your GP for a referral. Phone weekly and ask them to update her record with details of anything that she's struggling with/that's out of control. Without a history nothing will happen.


Then they'll out a referral in. You get an initial assessment. Probably a few more hoops to jump through while you wait on the follow up assessment.

You really need to drive the situation. Push & fight.
