There is not a high risk of death from ADHD. You are deliberately conflating ADHD with more deadly conditions like depression, anxiety, psychosis under the umbrella term of mental illness. Apples and oranges.

And if you are referring to forms of talking therapy such as CBT instead of medication, there is very good evidence that CBT can be as effective as medication for mild to moderate depression and anxiety, with far fewer side effects. News flash: your doctor actually knows what they are talking about!

Patients recover quicker when they are actively involved in their own treatment, which CBT encourages, rather than passive involvement such as taking a pill daily.
