It depends on what you are after. I like buying consumables as presents, as they are relatively inexpensive and don't contribute to people's household dust collection. You could get some short bread, tunnocks tea cakes/wafers, Scottish blend tea. You will find this in most supermarkets, including Aldi/Lidl, they will often include a Scottish flag next to products made in Scotland. To add, honey, jams, cheeses, tinned haggis, whiskey are always popular.
For nicer things, you can always check out general souvenir shops for scarves/throws.
Other than that, there are a couple of shops in Buchanan galleries that cell local artist's works.
