Bus cages only mark out a bay where buses can stop and don’t divide lanes. On the Cathedral St example the bus cage takes up more than half of the lane.
I think most people think it’s two lanes because the buses tend to keep left allowing faster moving vehicles to overtake easier.
If it came down to the crunch and there was a collision, liability would be with the vehicle performing an overtaking/undertaking manoeuvre. |
