Nothing near as dramatic as many fortunately, I was not impacted too much by the whole pandemic (work went on as usual and family caught it after vaccines, all with mild symptoms)

31st of January: Planned flight from London to Beijing, spend a bit of time in China before heading to South Korea
27th of January: Internal borders were closing in China, making my trip impossible, so I cancelled most of it except for the flights UK->China. I was also told by a local friend not to travel to China because it was too dangerous.
29th of January 2020: BA cancelled my flight to China and offered to fly me direct to Korea
Arrival in Seoul on the 31st of January, got scanned for temperature at the hotel, the pandemic prep had truly started already here. Facemasks everywhere (mandatory on public transport, and they were free) and temp checking at multiple places. |
