In Glasgow Hackney taxis can be any age as long as they can pass the 6 monthly inspection.
From June any Taxi older than 2015 won’t be suitable. There are only two options for new taxis. £42k Mercedes Vito from Cab Direct of which there is currently no stock. Or a £65k LEVC TXE.
London Hackneys charge nearly £4 per mile. In Glasgow it’s £2.20 per mile.
Private hire vehicles may have to be replaced every 7 years but they are not purpose built vehicles and you can replace it for about £22k. Nearly 1/3 of a new hackney. |
