All depends on from *where* in India you are coming from and what the climate is like there.

As has been said, cold and wet (and the wet makes it feel colder). Also dark for a large part of the day just now. That flips in the summer.

I know nothing about what is on sale in India, but you will both want at least a good waterproof jacket and plenty of layers to go beneath. Hat and gloves are also ideas. As are waterproof shoes.

Decathlon, Go Outdoors, and TK Maxx are just three places you can pick up essentials (they may not look pretty, but they'll get the job done).

We have plenty of "world food" shops, so you should be able to get everything you need for some home cooking.

If you are unfamiliar with the accent you may struggle to understand people ("Still Game" on Netflix is a semi-decent example of some of the accents).

Don't be Afra don't be afraid to ask people to repeat themselves. The non-arseholes won't mind, and the arseholes? Well, you probably don't want to be talking with them anyway!
