So from that, several thousands pounds investment on an 8 year old vehicle that can only be fuelled up at about 5 places across the city.

Or £65k investment in a new electric vehicle with £2.5k of support. Not really loads of help tbh is it. Taxi drivers are hardly millionaires. They are working class folk.

99% of the population would feel the impact if they were told they need to pay £2k or lose their job.

They might have known about it for 5 years but two years of that their earnings were severely hampered and many would have decimated their savings.

There are a lot of cab drivers who work part time and only go out Thurs/Fri/Sat nights or when there are events on. Simply not worth it for them to upgrade/invest. Glasgows taxi service will lose overall capacity but peak capacity will be heavily impacted.

When the summer comes this sub is full of posts with folk moaning they can’t get home after a night out or from work.
