You need to make your place look less like a target, completely clear the garden, keep nothing in view of the windows and keep them shut and locked unless you're in that room. Also maybe just me but I'd also put a few strips of those wee hook things they use to hold carpets under the windows anaw just so that then anybody looking in thinks it's more trouble than it's worth.
