Because they were a man at the time of the alleged offence, they had a different name. The charges include physical elements, which only make sense to the jury if you knew they were born a man. They also could hear physical evidence the alleged victims were physically dominated, which clearly again mean it's important to note the context of the accused's gender at the time.
