I hope you’re ok OP.

I’ve worked in retail too helping a family business and people do talk to you like you’re thick. I get it. Folk 100% need to be more respectful.

But don’t go to work ever presuming that people think lesser of you for doing your job. A tiny % will. But they’re idiots. Everyone is just doing what they’ve gotta do and using whatever skills they’ve got.

Re: helping with groceries. I’m a dolt and probably would have asked you to do this. Partly because I feel like it’s rude to keep people at your doorstep and also because it’s a good way for me to slip you a tenner for dropping bags in my kitchen rather than the front door and watching me scrabble around with it.

Try not to see the worst in everything- it will honestly improve your life. But if people are being rude- call them on it. You are not your job. A job is just a job.
