| Comment | Weird they care, I've never had an issue? The hamsters (and even the mice!) I've had letting agents laugh at me for even thinking I needed to ask. I was always up front and the letting agents were like yeah as long as it's not a dog or a fishtank we don't care.
Where I live now we have a dog the landlord is aware of and some very elderly mice we won't be replacing that I forgot to mention as I was so worried about getting permission for the dog. It wasn't commented on at inspection time. Our cage is a large tank and wouldn't fit in a cupboard so we just had to keep it out, if you had a portable one you could give to a friend on inspection day- they have to give notice.
I did have a mad landlady accuse me of letting my hamster chew on her rug. It was a horrible old thing that we put in the cupboard the whole time we lived there and replaced with our own rug, and very clearly frayed when we moved in. I had photo evidence. She didn't like that, but "take photos of everything with datestamps" is one to remember. |
