One of our fav trips is a road trip to Inveraray for lunch (wee restaurant in town does a massive fish and chips and some good cakes), wander about the castle, then drive down to Benmore Botanical Garden (nice drive) and wander up the hill for a chill with some great views. Finish up with a mosey down to Rothesay, ferry back across to Wemyss Bay and either an ice cream at nardinis in Largs or (if you haven’t already had one in Inveraray), fish and chips on the promenade.

All in it’s a day’s jaunt at a leisurely pace, with enough to do or not do that you can pick and choose without feeling like you’re racing or bored.
