| Comment | Ok so I said tourists because they’re the ones who most commonly have issues getting around town but there’s plenty of Glaswegians who don’t come into town because the streets to get to X or Y are too narrow or too busy, or there’s no managed civic space for them to sit, or there’s bits they feel unsafe at. (Bridge at Sainsbury’s Buchanan street I’m looking at you).
Edinburgh is a tourist haven partly because it’s a unesco site. That designation prevents the old town from being redeveloped but also hinders the city from being able to progress into its next phase. Glasgow has had a slash and burn attitude towards so much of its built heritage and should be a place where we favour lived experience and create real communities for people to live in.
And that’s what’s happening here. But it will also make it nicer/easier for tourists when they’re passing through too. It’s a win win |
