Im in the area quite a lot and done my test in it many years ago - what times your test at? The reason i ask is the driving conditions there vary greatly depending on time. It connects to the A8(glasgow to Edinburgh) so its often mobbed with people commuting to work and back.

Familiarise yourself with the main street as theres normally wayyyy more cars parked than there should be so youll have the usual hazards(people throwing car doors open, delivery vans double parked, kids running across the road from behind parked cars, etc).

And go on edinburgh road too -keep in mind its a 40 zone for the most part as its classed as a dual carriageway so remember to monitor your speed as people get impatient and hammer their horn if you go slightly less than that.

In addition to the above familiarise yourself with the roundabouts just up the hill from the test cente(and the train station) - they can get really busy at rush hour and a bit stressful if you arent used to them.

Hope that helps a bit! Good luck :)
