I absolutely agree. And this is supported in our national planning framework, our housing and transport strategies.

Here is an excerpt from the Scottish Housing Strategy to 2040, encouraging creation of pedestrianised, connected neighbourhoods (places), rather than this urban sprawl we’ve been forced to endure… only time will tell if we get there.

Place-making
We need to make a radical shift in how we
plan and design housing and places. As a first step, we are establishing the Place Based Investment Programme in 2021, a £325 million investment over five years contributing to
our ambitions in community-led regeneration, community wealth building, town centre revitalisation and 20 minute neighbourhoods. This will also be an important source of funding to contribute to mixed-use development projects which include affordable housing.
