I still think something like SRC is still the right thing in terms of overall governance, but then have more local/community council power for local and community issues. We know that the needs of Glasgow City Centre will not be the same as those of Inveraray, due to population density, environment, etc. But they will need bins collecting, school curriculums, roads, and street lights. So a regional council sorting those things, and allocating funding for local issues to the relevant local council.

And on your last point, I would go further and not allow parties. Last council election I had the SNP & Alba telling me about independence, Tory's talking about derailing indepence, greens talking about nationwide policy, and Labour talking about what they will do when they win in Westminster. None of that falls into the remit of Glasgow City Council so it has no impact on my voting intention, so surely that's just a waste of time and money.
