I did exactly this last year. Joint house, three kids. I left the house and stayed with parents. I pay all bills but I solely did it because of respect to my wife and kids. I didn't want them out in a shitty house.

I was told my solicitor that you can still live in the house and start divorce procedures if that's what you want. You can even get back together for as long as 6 months without breaking the 2 year separation period.

I looked into housing (not Glasgow but Ayrshire) and I was basically so far down the list I would be waiting years unless I lied about the situation.

I ended up moving back in my house as I missed the kids. Awkward as fuck but you try make things work.

Moving out does not lose you any entitlement to equity in the house. Just make sure before you sign over the house or sell that you check with a solicitor to keep you right in what you are entitled to.
