I moved over half a year ago and Glasgow just feels more...... real? Like there's actually stuff going on here that isn't aimed squarely at tourists.

The other thing is Edinburgh is just too expensive to live nowadays, especially for younger folk (I'm 35, so like, the upper end of that category), and as a knock-on effect, the average age there feels like 20-30 years older than here. There's a very real sense in which I feel like I have more scope for making friends over here, though at the moment I still don't know that many people yet.

Someone else mentioned, the lgbtq scene is bigger.

There are other bits I won't get into but i'll mention that if you scratch the surface in edinburgh you, more often than here, find that presbyterian attitude.

Anyway made the decision to move over partly because I was doing a degree at glasgow uni over lockdown, only actually went in person for the first time last year and enjoyed it. And also because I want my mum at arm's length. She's quite clingy and needy and having her an hour away is better. I was living at her house in Edinburgh since the beginning of the pandemic, and that was taking its toll.

oh also music gigs. they never bother with edinburgh
