I’d argue that your point on ‘more common in spoken language than written’ does not apply with Scots due to the systemic forces that attempted to obliterate Scots language in literature and popular media.

Any language printed in non-English media in western society is a minority due to the use age of English as a lingua franca and therefore could all be considered more commonly spoken than written.

But again- using a word from another language is not slang. It’s just a borrowed word. “Do you want to go to the discotheque” is not slang. It’s using a foreign word for effect.

Chica- however IS slang because it is a slang word in its origin language. Don’t conflate the two.
