| Comment | honestly, i joke at this point if GCC actually put up cameras for drivers who stop on pedestrian crossings, park in cycle lanes, run red lights (seriously, i nearly got ran over 3 times on thursday from cars running red lights) and speed cameras, they'd have enough money to turn glasgow into amsterdam within 2 years.
but yeah, there's obviously a lot of talk about potholes in glasgow, the biggest factors to roads survival is the weight of the vehicles riding on it and the speed their going. yes, the freezing and thaw cycle plays a part but not nearly as much as speed and weight. reducing the speed (if enforced) could increase the life of the roads by quite a bit.
i also think enforcement wise, introducing a similar system to what they use in finland where fines are based on your income (along with other things) would help. |
