Cyclists don't deserve the hate any more than drivers do. What we have in Glasgow (and im guessing most other towns and cities in Scotland) is horrifically bad cycle lanes that are mere lip service to the idea of promoting eco-friendly forms of transport, like so many other things promoted by the councils and government. Also demonising transport by car when there is no other feasible alternative in many cases due to services or financial reasons pisses people off. And like so many debates it becomes tribal and the people really responsible escape criticism.

Driving is a horrendous experience in Glasgow these days - closures, traffic, potholes - but it still costs me a pound a may max to drive 20/25 minutes into town for work and park 10 mins walk away where it is still free. It would cost me £5 a day to get the train which either gets me in 50 minutes early (at 6.10am for a 7am start) or 10 minutes late. It's an embarrassment.

I digress, the real and justified anger of motorists is no excuse to attack cyclists. I've only ever been pissed off at other drivers on the road, the idea of bad cyclists is overstated.
