This is part of the mental barrier we need to break around cycling. Not every ride needs to be a TdF stage. Cyclists should be able to ride along at the pace they feel comfortable with. That's the way it works in the Netherlands, Denmark etc. People in normal clothes rather than lycra, no helmets, riding at a nice relaxed pace and it all works. We need the infrastructure to allow that, which is bikes completely separated from cars and pedestrians that understand shared use paths and what parts of those paths are for cyclists and to stay off those parts, and vice versa for cyclists |
