I used to work with a couple of other Scottish lads in Cheshire and the rest of the office thought it was hilarious that we spoke of going "up the road" on a Friday, meaning a 4 hour drive up the M6/M74.
Also got asked "Are you staying down here?" and I said yes, "I've rented a flat". Apparently that is "living", the "staying" question was about whether my contract was permanent. |
