If food delivery couriers' willingness to take preventative actions to minimise the chance of bike theft is anything like their willingness to wear a helmet, fit front, back and side lights and reflectors, wear fluorescent and reflective clothing, keep their head hood-free, keep their eyes and neck moving, indicate lane changes with their arms and not simply swerving three feet to the left and right instantaneously, keep at least one ear available to listen for traffic, not cycle through red lights or 'green men'..... then I'm astonished that they can even get through a week without their bikes being stolen.

Never has a lazier or thicker collective workforce been mobilised in one industry. Whether these folk put themselves in such grave danger through sheer laziness or utter stupidity, if I was a bike thief I would view this as advertising their likelihood to be an easy victim - if they can't respect their own life there's little chance they will be taking any action to protect their bike - and follow them whilst they deliver, it wouldn't take long to use their stupidity or laziness against them.

No burger is worth losing a bike over. If a customer isn't where they should be, leave the burger, take a photo and be on your way.

All couriers should have both a Samsung and Apple tracker tag installed somewhere discrete on their bikes, ideally riveted or welded in place. They should also etch and smartwater their bikes and advertise them as such. They should look for cctv, dashcam'd cars, lighted areas, park where it's inconvenient and riskier for a thief to access, communicate with customers strongly so they know they must be ready on your arrival.
