Climbed Ben Lomond two weeks ago. Snowline from 650metres. Some of path covered covered sheets of ice, esp above 650ml. Tread carefully. Decent wind gusts. -7 oC on top. But slippy towards the top. I managed in trail runners, but really wished I’d taken at least my YakTraks or microspikes. Hiking poles really helpful. Saw a couple of folk with crampons. Got to the top, but there is no shame in turning back

Have done some winter hiking before. Attended some winter skills courses at Glenmore, well worth it
