A really broad Glasgow accent can be hard for others to pick up on especially when said really fast or mumbled. Most people who speak this way understand this and try and slow it down, drop some of the slang, and annunciate for the benefit of others but I have known people who will absolutely never do this for some reason. There are 100% people who ham it up in a slightly performative way but they are expecting to get some confused looks.

I have lived in Glasgow a huge portion of my life and I still encounter people who lay it on so thick I can't understand them. Especially younger men it seems.
