Name matches up - yes I wouldn't try and smoke the tickets, if you hold one up to the sun or a bright light you can see [they've got quite a bit of circuitry including a chipset embedded in them](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wm4CSrH8WTU) \- quite wasteful when you think they'd get put in a bin after use (bit like disposable Elf bars).
They should just embrace contactless (ala TFL) rather than the ITSO card system, would be a lot more straightforward - or just use them together like Oyster/Contactless.
On the upside, the Subway cards work well when I'm away from Glasgow in hotels that make you put the room card in to turn on the lights/leccy. Most are just a trip sensor (like ones in Premier Inn/Travelodge etc) so don't care what card you put in there. |
