Just like someone holding you up at knifepoint for your wallet or purse doesn't care that theft and threatening someone isn't illegal.
Cars are ton weight killing machines and humans who often make errors, are operating them. Why wouldn't you give a glance at what's coming, even if you DO have the right of way?
