What exactly do you mean by car culture? The use of cars? because without the use of cars we'd all be living like fuckin cavemen again and that's a fact. Of course pedestrians have the right to feel safe when they're behaving in a way and in a place that they have every right to feel safe.
It's not car culture that's responsible for someone being killed or injured by a car when they step out in front of traffic without paying due care and attention and get hit UNLESS the driver is doing something wrong and breaking the law or not paying attention. That's called stupidity or carelessness. Drivers & cyclists for that matter can't mitigate against every possible situation that someone might put themselves into harms way / their path even if they are following every rule in the book. |
