Comment | What I'm saying is if Glasgow as it is just now or even remotely like it is just now pushes forward into a car free city centre it would tank, which a lot of people in this sub are screaming out needs to happen now or in the near future. We're decades and massive investment in public transport away from anything like a car free city from happening.
I'm not against it at all in the future (although won't be in my lifetime I suspect) but this constant car/driver bashing is ridiculous when a large portion of cars in the city centre don't really have a choice due to either work or totally inadequate public transport to get them there & home.
I don't venture into the city centre much these days but when I do I take the train but need to drive to a station and park & ride. There's no parking facilities at my nearest station so need to drive 3 miles to the next one and hope there's a space to park. If everyone who drove into the city centre decided to use public transport instead starting tomorrow the system couldn't cope, not by a long shot. |
