You’ve totally lost me with this. While I agree that it was offered (by some teachers) as an alternative to lines (see my post above), this was 50+ years ago and sadly a sign of the times. There will be plenty of people who will have been traumatised by abuse from teachers at school.
There’s no excuse for you to be smacking your dog in 2023.
