My dad was a teacher in the 70s and he said parents never complained when their kids got the belt. The teachers, parents and kids all thought it was normal because it had been that ways for decades before. Looking at it through today’s lens isn’t necessarily fair. That said knocking someone out with a cricket bat is insane. My dad said there were always teachers who took it too far.
