> The budget is cut to the bone because the grant from Holyrood has been cut to the bone because the funding from Westminster has been cut to the bone.

Holyrood is cutting council budgets at a quicker rate than its own budget is cut. In other words, the ScotGov bureaucracy in Edinburgh passes on cuts to local authorities whilst retaining its own inefficient (and in my view deeply incompetent) staffing levels: https://morningstaronline.co.uk/article/never-mind-cuts-wheres-funding

>BETWEEN 2011 to 2017 the SNP Scottish government cut funding to Scottish councils by 3.7 per cent, taking a whopping £1 billion from council budgets and in turn public services.

>This is despite the fact that last year Westminster gave the SNP Scottish government a revenue cash increase of 2.2 per cent — a capital cash increase of 10.3 per cent, plus it has additional borrowing powers of up to £450 million.

>Until the UK can find a way to repay the £ 1 trillion bailout we gave to the banks in 2008 - which will never happen

Nonsense.

>[T]he total government spend was £137 billion. Most of this has been paid back and around £27 billion is still outstanding. Around £1 trillion worth of financial guarantees were provided to investors—but these were promises designed to restore confidence in the banks, not cash for spending.
