| Comment | Bit of a tangent but sometimes?
Gay people arent like a monolith; we have the same intergenerational conflicts as everyone else.
Main reason I can think of personally is political. Theres this one bracket of gays who had their young adulthood in the 90s and who faced arguably less adversity than we do now, but still feel like theyre the old guard even though theyre totally politically disengaged.
This is the cohort where you find people saying things like we dont need pride anymore, or that we should be intergrationist. Or theyll be critical of trans people or something. Their politics is out of date if they even had good politics to begin with. Definitely not all of them, but enough.
They can be assholes, in the same way your grandpa is kinda racist and you just roll your eyes and make fun of him for it. |
