| Comment | We don't have a municipal transit authority unfortunately, in the style of TfL for example. A situation lots of UK cities have been stuck in for a couple of decades due to limitations in law.
SPT (Strathclyde Partnership for Transport) is close to this, and is the inheritor organisation of our old municipal transit authority, but SPT only manages the subway circle today. Buses are privatised and trains are only just very recently nationalised, so we lack any truly integrated ticketing system at the moment.
There are moves under way to change this with the law being changed recently, but it is taking an age to fix. |
