Existing cycle networks lacks upkeep.

We had a phenomenal amount of cycling infrastructure in and around Glasgow, if the only time it is maintained is when there is a cycling event or commonwealth games on it may as well not be there.

I even remember a cadre of cyclists about 15 years ago slowing traffic down cycling into oncoming traffic, as a protest, on the Broomielaw, whilst completely ignoring the purpose built cycle and pedestrian area next to the Clyde at that point.

Tremendous resources were poured into cycle lanes over lock-doon running parallel or close to main roads cue them crumbling now and being unfit for purpose as they lack maintenance.

Cycle routes end abruptly sometimes into oncoming traffic or pavements, (looking at you Berkley St.) presenting hazards to pedestrians, cyclist and other road users alike.

Watch out for August 3-13 when cycling in Glasgow is highlighted on the worlds stage where neglected infrastructure will get their decadly tarmacking, only if it has to be used for an event.
