| Comment | It's really nothing to do with the concept of a reddit hivemind. Don't you think it's pretty suspicious that the only people who have anything remotely approaching a positive opinion about the orange order are those directly involved with it or forced to live with people who are?
When indyref people march the opposition response is anger. When the LGBT community does a march, the opposition response is anger. When the orange order march, the opposition response is *shame*.
We're not angry that you exist, we're ashamed that tourists are going to come here on their summer holidays and think we're a racist city when they see you. You are not a threat. You are an embarrassment.
The saddest part of all this is that you're not going to take any of that on board. I know this because I couldn't possibly imagine the orange order continuing to exist if they had the self awareness to know what a joke they are. The rest of us have been trying to get through to them for years but they just won't be having it. Maybe it's our fault for not having enough social care programs. It's hard to explain the concept of shame to someone who forgot what dignity was a long time ago. |
