I've been thinking about this a lot recently. When I was younger most protests I'd seen were things I broadly agreed with. The last ten years or so there have been many more that I don't. Thinking about protests I've been to on subjects I agree with, would I be upset or annoyed if the government said "that's fine but you can't do it in this specific place?" probably not to be honest. I think the difference is any protest I broadly support seeks to speak to everyone so providing the protest can happen where there are people. That's great. I can't think of a cause I'd support that wants to target a specific group... Maybe that's it.
