| Comment | Event organisers can only control the event space. Outside the event zone is a matter for the police and council. You’re not going to send the Spice Girls or whoever you’re into a fine for the actions of their concert goers half a mile down the road.
It’s the same with people who spill out of pubs and clubs and start a fight or spew their ringer half way down Sauchiehall Street. Or McDonalds when somebody drives down the road and chucks their food wrapper out of the window.
In any case it is the SPFL who were the event organisers for yesterday, not the two football clubs. While the littering, pishing and general bad behaviour isn’t acceptable, councils accept that having a stadium or arena in their jurisdiction comes with a certain degree of waste management. The trade off being that the overall contribution to the economy is positive. |
