| Comment | TLDR; Marches were rerouted after last year's spitting incident. The new route still went past a Catholic church. Council and Police imposed a rule of no playing within 100 metres of a church, several bands ignored this and one made a point of stopping in front of the church and kept playing despite being told to stop by police. Two young men allegedly assaulted and spat on a woman.

It does look like we gave an inch and they took a fucking mile. A very reasonable request to reroute and not play outside Catholic churches was apparently too much to ask. Of course the trouble is that every restriction imposed just bolsters their claims of persecution and adds recruits. It's lose-lose really. |
