| Comment | To me this is a red flag for a bad landlord (I'm told they exist).
Make sure your deposit has been protected by a legitimate company in Scotland and check your rental agreement for their landlord registration, then confirm its still current with the local council
Landlord should definitely be repairing (i.e. cleaning) to a reasonable standard at their expense or replacing. A new machine is a deductible expense for them - offer to buy a machine and reduce the rent for the next month by the agreed amount of they're not willing to pay for it upfront. |
