i think you've misinterpreted me. the person I had responded to reduced the argument to just being about plastic. i pointed out that if plastic was the only concern with these things, then we should be focusing on other things.

so we basically have the same point of view it seems, the issue with these isnt the plastic aspect solely. Nor, the battery aspect alone. If we were so genuinely concerned about how bad batteries are for the environment, we wouldnt use mobile phones (as an example) given how atrocious for the environment the batteries used in those are. certainly more impactful than single use vapes in that respect.

cumulatively, single use vapes are pretty bad though, no argument. I do find peoples reasoning for advocating a ban funny sometimes though. 'The batteries are bad for the environment' typed into Reddit via a mobile phone, or 'they use too much plastic' written after having just had a McDonalds for lunch etc etc.

I'd favour a ban of single use vapes, with medical concessions allowed where they would demonstrably be used as a smoking cessation tool, available only through a chemists for example.

edit - also, generally, I'm not a fan of prohibition.
